  A 19-year-old was killed and four other female college students were injured, one seriously, when their Chevrolet Suburban flipped and rolled over Sunday on Interstate 75 at Linger Lodge Road.

FORMER LADY MONARCH BENJAMIN DIES IN ACCIDENT

 

Summary: 

  Former Old Dominion basketball player Esther Benjamin, 25, died Wednesday of injuries sustained in a one-car accident near Vienna, Ga. Benjamin, who played for the Lady Monarchs from 1993-96, was the rear passenger in a minivan traveling on I-75, reportedly going to see her brother play basketball. According to the Georgia State Highway Patrol, the right rear tire of the van blew, the driver hit the guardrail and Benjamin was ejected out of the back window. Among the five passengers, Benjamin was the only one killed. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Benjamin was a native of Valdosta, Ga.

2 injured in turnpike crash still in hospital 11 in van that blows tire, ties up traffic

 

Summary: 

  At least two of the 11 people who were injured in a Sunday afternoon accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Penn Township remain in Lancaster General Hospital today. All 11 were occupants of a westbound van being driven by Roberto Uribe, 27, of North Tenth Street, Reading, Bowmansville state police said.

CHP Blame Flat Tire For 6 Deaths in Crash

 

Summary: 

  Six members of a Bay Area family returning from a funeral in Las Vegas died after their van crashed Sunday, police said. The California Highway Patrol identified the victims as Benjamin Kalagayan, 64, and Mele Kalagayan, 63, both of Vallejo; NimfaAngeles, 51, of Benicia; Amanias Locso, 86, of Vallejo; Teresita Palomar, 68, of South San Francisco; and Mariza Locso, 43, of Vallejo. The CHP believes a flat tire may have been why driver Benjamin Kalagayan lost control of the family's 1998 Chevrolet Astro van while traveling south on Interstate 15. Yesterday the CHP said only Kalagayan and two other occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Auto accident claims life of Memphis woman

The driver of the 1994 Ford Explorer, her husband, Tony Adams, received minor injuries, Cal Adams explained, but Trina Adams was pronounced dead on the scene.

The vehicle was traveling north when the tire blew, causing it to overturn, he added.

An accountant, Trina Adams was a Pelahatchie native but had been a resident of Memphis since 1992, according to her obituary.

 

ACCIDENT - Elfrida man dies, brother is injured

An Elfrida man was killed in an auto accident Wednesday afternoon when his car's left back tire blew, ejecting him and his twin brother from the vehicle, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Seth A. Warn, 18, who was a passenger, died en route to the hospital.

He was air-evacuated to Northern Cochise Community Hospital in Willcox.

A DPS spokeswoman said he was not wearing a seat belt.

His brother, Jared A. Warn, 18, the driver of the 1978 Ford two-door, was wearing a seat belt.

He was admitted to Tucson Medical Center for head and chest injuries.

According to the DPS spokeswoman, the pair were southbound on Highway 191, mile marker 35.5. when the left rear tire blew.

The tread wrapped around the axel, causing the vehicle to lose control.

They were on way home to Elfrida for Thanksgiving.

Jared Warn is in fair condition today at TMC, according to hospital spokesman Michael Letson.

Woman killed in accident Van carrying 11 blows tire on I-95

 

Summary: 

  One person was killed and nine other people were injured yesterday after a church van blew a tire on Interstate 95, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and the van to flip near Racetrack Road in St. Johns County. Southbound traffic on Interstate 95 was backed up for more than two hours after the 5 p.m. accident just south of the Duval County line, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Traffic was backed up about 5 miles to the Greenland Road overpass in Jacksonville.

Van Accident Victim Dies

DURHAM -- One of the victims hurt in a weekend wreck on I-40 has died. Emir Romero was one of seven people hurt when a van blew a tire and went spinning out of control.

3 HURT IN I-75 TRUCK ACCIDENT

 

Summary: 

  A truck accident on Interstate 75 on Tuesday afternoon left three people seriously injured and traffic snarled for hours. The accident occurred about 4:40 p.m. near mile marker 31 in Warren County when the left rear tire on a southbound truck blew, sending the vehicle out of control. The truck flipped at least twice and came to rest on its top, Lt. R. Scott Borden of the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Easter weekend accident leaves U. Florida student in hospital

 

Summary: 

  (U-WIRE) GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- A University of Florida sophomore remains in critical condition at Shands after the 1989 Ford Bronco in which she was a passenger blew a tire while she and three other UF students were on their way home to spend Easter with their families.
