Frates was admitted to the Florida bar in 1968. After
graduating from the University of Colorado
(B.A., 1965) he attended the University of Florida law
school, (Law Review, 1966-1967) receiving a J.D., with
honors, in 1967. He has practiced civil trial law for 35
years. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer,
recognized by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization
and Education. He is a member of the Indian River, Florida,
and American Bar Associations; Sustaining Member of The
Association of Trial Lawyers of America; American
Judicature
Society. Diplomat, Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers. Listed
in Leading American Attorneys and the Bar Register of
Preeminent Lawyers; Former lecturer and instructor in Trial
